Besties

I love this picture. I think it looks like an ad for jeans, no?

Cathedrals in the Heartland

Among the corn fields of the small towns in Kansas worship is prevalent. The cathedrals and church houses are everywhere!

I was sad and then there was this. Who said that there isn't beauty in Kansas?

Cobwebs

The spider that lives here cleans it up every day and puts it back up each evening.

Happy Father's Day!

Dad,
Thank you for showing me the lighter side of life,
for making my childhood full of magic,
Thank you for being there when I need to talk, or a recipe, or to move home,
for sharing your love of Mexican Food with me,
for the sarcasm,
Thank you for teaching me to be a better person,
to make somebody's job easier,
to say yes sometimes to the Princess,
to find adventure.
I Love You and I Miss You!
Love,
Kate

Parley P. Pratt

I've learned so much about Parley P. Pratt since his family came to take him home to Utah. Unfortunately, his body was not preserved.

Here is a link to the story in our news paper:

Can you see the three pretzels that the baby placed on the radio antenna worn by the girl who is kneeling down? I couldn't resist taking the picture!

Spring Is In The Air

The Dogwoods are in full bloom and are already starting to turn to leaves. On overcast days they look like they are covered in snow! They are just beautiful and humming with all the bees busy to get the pollen!

The Jane Magnolia bush in my yard is also blooming! So delicate and bright, it's one of my favorites!

Night Time Photo Drama

The assignment was "Night Photography".
That evening we were stopped by the police because we were in the cemetery shooting toward the hill which as a wonderful S curve.
She asked us what in the world we were doing. When we told her it was for a photography class she seemed excited for us. Then my Hero talked her into driving up the hill with lights flashing because the picture would be so cool. Worried that she would get into trouble if another officer were to see it, my hero became more persuasive. We really owe her one!

The Brunwick Wedding Chapel

My friend runs The Brunwick Wedding Chapel. I've learned that I'm not a wedding photographer, but this chapel is just beautiful, so it's always fun to hang out and take shots whenever...just for fun...and to learn.

Lines and Lighing

This is one of my favorites because of the lines and the light. This is a staircase that leads down into the Arkansas River.

Closing

This is how much snow it takes to close the school for a couple of days. Yes, I said a couple of days!

The problem last month wasn't the snow, it was ice.

Old Timer's Day

In May our little town has a carnival weekend called "Old Timer's Days". It was a fun place to take night shots. Plus, you can't beat the smell of the funnel cakes and everyone laughing as they dare the rides!

On The Farm

Down on the farm in Ozark, I found some of the most photo worthy scenes.

The chimney made out of river rock.

This was a house and land of some of my husband's ancestors on his dad's mother's side.

Right outside their door is the well. It wasn't built up with a roof as they are in story books.

This was it. Moss and all.

Red

I love that my neighbor puts his flag up each morning and takes it down each evening. The morning rays streaming through the trees and spotlighting his "Ole Glory" caught my eye. It was the "Red" that I was looking for.
